Opposites
The silence of a sea
Ceases in a bursting forth
The hiss of winds
Stops at
the turbulence of tornadoes
The brightness of the sun
Ends with the storm of the clouds
The
bloom of the sunflower
Goes
with the glow of the sunset
The laughter of friends
Finishes with the gossip of fiends
A
child’s smile
Dampens
in a mother’s spank
The blazes of faces
Stops with hearts a-pieces
The journey of life
Ends with a breath…stop.
TODAY
We want to walk in our past
But today holds us down
We covet the cool breeze of
the night
But the air conditioner
pleases us
We desire to see our women
wear wisdom
But the make-up makes them
bright
We fancy our men strong for
battle
But the pen makes them
wealthy
We want to live in peace
But the bullets of power are
never still
We want to walk in our past
But we are too forward in the
future.
