Poetry
Abdulaziz Ahmed Abdulaziz
Love
is…
(after Osundare’s “Poetry
is…”)
coded pill
engraved in
hearts
…blend
of poetics
philosophy
and chemistry
the chirping
birds make;
the lullaby
by leaves;
and snoring
of the wind
the blinking
light and
eluding
darkness
not the
erection
and
ejaculation
or the
marriage
ring and
the dowry
the self
delusion
for fake
feelings
love is…
glimmering
vampire
spurious
sanctity and
cherished
confusion
the feeling
you have
when your
wife issues
you a divorce letter
your worth
when you
pass
yourself
as a forsaken
fellow
not the
kisses
mementoes
and
love letters
love is…
ever changing
chameleon –
blue in the
morning
grey at dusk.
Poor
Poem
this poem
is a pauper
nothing
in its coffer
it is a
grasshopper –
no
beauty, no use, no hope
hacked
and handicapped
it is
starved of meaning
music and
some thought
this is a
free poem
whose
freedom liberates it to thin air
like
gaping gas from agape cylinders
this poem
has no identity
or price
tag for a prize
this poem
is
gallimaufry
seeking
some roborants
it is a
poor artist’s sketch!
